Thankful

Today is my mom’s birthday…since she is here with us we took her to dinner…we did have to wait a bit since they need a large enough table for the 6 of us…the boys did great and since we made them wait for soda’s or drinks other than water, they did really well with their dinner too…It was as we were leaving that my evening got scarey…there was a group of kids acting wierd outside…Alex was still inside with Patrick…I just wanted to get everyone in the car…My mom waiting outside for Patrick so he could get in the car…as Alex came out with him, he was upset…he thought his drink got tossed…I grabbed it…shortly after Alex got him in the car (my mom still standing outside), two car flew through the paking lot…right where we had crossed and my husband and son crossed moments before…as we were driving home I could help but think had they come out moments later, they may have been hit…my husband and son may have been gone from me forever…until we all are in Heaven together…that thought has been with me all evening…I try to keep reminding myself, that in God’s timing, Patrick was fully in the car and Alex was watching and standing back and not going around the car…though I was still scared to death, cops showed up shortly after…I am just glad to be home and have my family safe with me…I may not show it all the time, but I love my family so much, they are my whole world…

been a while

So, as usual, I over did myself on the plans…being 30 plus weeks pregnant and all you would think I would know better…and just knowing me!!Β  I Have gotten some crafts done though and cleaned some…so this is really going to be a random post with catch-ups…not planning on doing the list ones like I had been…they were getting old for me πŸ™‚

This is the Mickey Mouse cross stitch I had been working on for just over a month…I really liked how it turned out…Now to get it framed πŸ™‚Β  My boys loved watching it come together…I may have a house of boys, but they all still love that Mommy makes stuff for them…My 9 year old has quite the request list πŸ™‚Β  As does my mom…oh if there were only more time in the day…She is here, which does help, but there is still a lot, I as a homeschooling mom and just a mom in general have to do on my own…

My next project…I started this one last Friday…the tan and almost all the yellow (not much) under his shirt is done, so I say another week and I should be done…and if I get it done by next Friday, my oldest has agreed to do all the dishes for a week πŸ˜‰ If I don’t, I get to clean his room for a week 😦  I will be giving this one to a friend’s daughter that is having a baby around the same time as I am and she is doing a Pooh Bear theme…

Do you remember the Black Lab cross stitch that took me 13 years to complete…My mom wanted me to “Alter” it to include a Golden…our old dog, their current (hubby is allergic)…well there is just too much shading and I don’t trust myself to get it right…This one is at Hobby Lobby and once my cross stitch basket is done I plan to stitch it for my mom…

I am hoping to have a lot of V-Day decorations from ideas I have seen…we will see if time allows…I did get one done and am working on another…I saw this idea on eighteen25, one of my favorite craft idea blogs…actually started working on it last spring as a permamnant decoration in our bedroom…got tired of cutting circles and the pregnancy just killed my will to craft for a while…

I found a new blog yesterday that I love…it is another Catholic CC famiy and she just blogs about her home life with her kids…I want to do that more too, especially since we are military and our family is all over…so this is one of my recent pictures that I absolutely love…this is our “youngest” (for now) and he is his Daddy to a T…he looks like him, acts like him, everything about his is his Daddy, well for one thing…he loves the camera!!Β  My husband is not a picture person and only smiles really for family photos…Every time I pointed the camera at Robert at the sibling class he would give me this cheesey grin…this is not a new thing, but this is just one of the most recent…He definately got this from me…I love the camera…both sides taking pictures and having pictures taken…and really even when I don’t look my best, I still just try to improve myself with a run of the fingers through the hair and smile for the camera…I love pictures, they are connection to the past, and I want that for my kids and future generations…(scrapbooking is a favorite of mine too…plan to really work on that when cross stitching is caught up).

Speaking of not looking so great for an impromptue picture and not even realizing my tummy was showing!!Β  As I have mentioned I homeschool our oldest…Last Thurs we had a mom’s get together, just to get us out of the house…We are all a part of a great Co-op called Classical Conversations (CC)…Jacob’s tutor, Jodie, is also a massage therapist and knows how to give foot messages to pregnant women that does not put them into labor…well, while I was getting one I was surprised with gifts from some of the moms…It was such a nice surprise I had no clue…so though it wasn’t an office Baby Shower, I was showered with gifts πŸ™‚Β  so that page in the baby book will get these photos…and yes, I had the camera with me and though I had no make up and had no clue, I still wanted pictures…(only wish Robert had a shower of some sort…he is my only one that didn’t 😦 ).

I have been so busy and tired that I am not even getting my lists done and thus haven’t been posting…I also think I need to change how my posts are…so I am still here doing the best I can, just a little behind on posts…now to go finish cooking down pumpkin so I can get it in the freezer πŸ™‚

Group Blog

OK…so I seem a day behind on blogging…There is a group of us ladies that are sharing a crafting blog and Fri is my day, and I had an early morning today, so had to choose one…go check us out…Crafty Mavens

First off, I gave up on the bathroom this week…still need that paint and it is just too late in the evening…planning on attacking it next week with the rest of my Plan of Attack group…I will also be taking down my Christmas decorations…one of my least favorite times of year…I love Christmas time and it is sad to take my decorations down…

First…I forgot to crop this and really don’t want to go back and fix it 😦  sad I know…The inspiration was “Framed by a doorway”…this is my son’s cat Baby Jaguar and this is his favorite place to nap…

I also got the kitchen sink done, but did not take a picture…I just forgot and really once I realized it, didn’t care…it is under the kitchen sink…nothing all that exciting!!

Only got one strand done on the cross stitch, but it was a busy day with the younger two’s gymnastics…getting the oldest’s pine wood derby done…helping with set up for that…

I did get the super hero masks done…was nice that all I need to do was take the new sewing machine out of the box and set it up and then sew them…the boys seems to like them, though I can’t seem to get all three of them to wear them at the same time for a picture…now I need to make some swords…Grandpa got them each a different gift and the middle son’s sword seems to be the one they fight over the most…I think I saw light sabres on pinterest…I am sure I can find something…

The 52 weeks challange finished with the tip toΒ empty the kitchen sink twice a day…typically after breakfast and dinner…that way we don’t have the clutter spread and we aren’t being so anal that we get onto our family all day to rinse their dishes and get them in the dishwasher…

Hope to postΒ from today…trying to not be so anal with the organization goals on the weekend, but just clean up around the house…catch up on laundry…craft and just enjoy my family πŸ™‚Β

New Sewing Machine!!

We had no issues returning the sewing machine…they only had one other machine…it is a different brand that I have not used…but has the features I like…can’t wait to use it tomorrow…my oldest really wants his super hero mask πŸ™‚Β

Ok, so two items are not checked off…one is practically done and the other not even started!!

We had to return some baskets that did not fit on the shelves I wanted them to at Michael’s today and there is a cupcake place right next store…this was our helthy lunch…and you can tell my two year old loved his…today’s 365 inspiration is resolve…though, I had no clue at the time how this would fit into that, and it really doesn’t matter, but I am ocd like that…I guess this is a shot to remind me to resolve to just relax a little and have fun πŸ™‚Β

So, I remembered to take the before picture once I was over half done emptying the worst shelf that was left…and the lighting is horrible…oh well…it is the end results that matter anyways…

I put a lot stuff into my beloved modualr mates including spices which you can see some of on the left…I have one on the right too…and sorted boxed and canned goods by like items…praying my family can keep this up…because not having them put stuff back right upsets me as much as a huge disorganized mess…did I mention I am a little ocd πŸ˜‰Β  But, am very proud of my pantry…can they keep it neat for 3 months?Β  we shall see…

My candy countdown isn’t quite done for two reasons…the ink on the vellum is taking FOREVER to dry and I use an “old school” eyelet kit to punch a large enough hole in the card stock and hubby is crashed out on the couch…but I did get my oldest’s done…I am not digging the color of the tupperware…but it is what we had on hand and it works…the red and black is so it matches my Coca Cola kitchen…The boys actually stamped their initial and their stars…mama did the rest…oh, my middle one also stamped his hands and feet and face too πŸ˜‰Β  now to put 19 candies in there for them to begin the countdown to Grandma…almost forgot I got the idea from brown paper packages…this is one of my favorite blogs…she has such simple ideas that are so pretty…you will be seeing many more link up’s to this blog πŸ™‚

For my 52 weeks challange I actually already had this one done, so just took a photo…the article summed up in alternative ways to store items out…one was to take a nice jar or vase to store kitchen utensials in…This tin actually held a puzzle in it that I got from my best friend Leslie in high school…and well sense my kitchen is Coca Cola it is the perfect thing to old items in πŸ™‚Β

Now the bathroom…that did not happen…the second day was the walls…I was busy today and being that we are moving in 3 months, rather than clean I want to touch up paint to clean up the walls and well I just didn’t have the time and need to go buy some more for our bathroom since I didn’t close the can last time, and well paint can mold…I looked into day three and it was clean the window treatments and what not and at 9:30 at night that just doesn’t sound like fun either…so yes I decided to skip that one…but I will be 32 weeks pregnant, I took my oldest to OT, we ran to Micahel’s and Hobby Lobby…reviewed some homeschool, cleaned a pantry…went to the base to exchange my sewing machine…took the younger two to dinner while hubby and the oldest had basketball, went to a Cub Scout committee meeting…freaked out when I saw a dead black and white cat, until I found mine in our backyard waiting to come in…praying for who ever lost their cat tonight…made my countdown jars…helped my oldest on his pine wood derby…so I think I can be happy even if I didn’t get to the bathroom today πŸ˜‰Β  plus hubby needs to unclog the toilet thanks to a certain 3 and 9 year olds…Oh and I got this blog up before 11 which is good for me since the younger two have gymnastics tomorrow and they have really been missing it over the holidays…so hoping an earlier bed time for me…we’ll see about that one…

UGG!!

OK, first I have to explain why my super hero masks are not checked off…and they are pinned and everything…I went to use my “NEW” sewing machine my husband got me…well it turns out it was a return and was missing everything, but the machine…NOT HAPPY…Hubby also paid full price for it…we are not sure if he still has the receipt, but will be taking it back and demanding a NEW replacement or a full refund!!Β  So, I had to go with an alternate plan…more on that later…

For the 365 photo challange the inspiration was wide aperature…I was not really sure what that was, since I am not a trained photographer, so I had to google it…from what I understand it is where more light is allowed in…since I am just using a little digital camera I took a picture of my youngest outside when the sun is blaring in our back yard…he may look like his father, but he is a camera lover like his mama πŸ™‚Β

For the 40 bags in 40 days challange next was the pantry…it is actually a two day project so I attacked the lower half of the pantry…

It had gotten pretty bad in there…stuff just being put where ever…and with the pregnancy I really did not have the energy to fix it like I wanted…which did not make for a very happy mama…but things are getting there now πŸ™‚Β  I got a lot of things in their correct tupperware containers…which I love modular mates…wish they still sold black lids though…or even red…

As always I worked on my cross stitch (will post when done πŸ™‚ )…have about one and a half Mickies left and then outlining it πŸ™‚Β

Since I was unable to finish the super hero masks I decided to work on one of my many card kits just sitting around…I get these kits from Apron Strings…Lori who puts these kits together does awesome…she is a hard working stay at home mom…please check out her site…ok back to my project…I decided to work on some cards because I needed them and I knew I had all that I needed…I had hoped to get an entire kit done, but only got two cards done, which is better than none…I did try to use rub on’s on the V-Day one and me and rub on’s don’t get along…may be because the kit is a year old too…(you should see how many I have I can do)…but it will go to my hubby and he won’t mind πŸ˜‰Β  My son helped with the B-Day one…again that old school Sizzix πŸ™‚Β  need to find more dies for it…

(bad picture…late at night…cards on the floor…I kept shadowing them…)

For my 52 weeks challange I was to put up items that did meet the functions of the kitchen, but cause clutter and don’t need to be out all the time…I had actually already done this in the past…so really just cleaned up the kitchen…My oldest for some reason likes wipping down the counters…

Finally, was my plan of attack…I am two days behind, but I am getting things done…this is where I actually made up for the lack of tossing/donating on the 40 days challange…I got rid of quite a bit of stuff…I do not have any before pictures…but here are the afters…We have two bathrooms…most of the hidden spaces are in the boys’ bathroom…I did not take a picture of my medicine cabinet because it was fine to begin with πŸ™‚

(This is actually one of my happy places in the house…when things stay in their containers…really I just need things organized and in their place and I am happy πŸ™‚ )

(The red bucket was full of bathtub toys…now it has maybe 7, they all had mold starting to grow on them…now I can justify ordering them some green toys from my favorite natural toys store…child trek based out of Tacoma, WA…awesome customer service by the way…)

(Seriously we have more towels…you just don’t want to see the two peaks of laundry…one Mount Clean, the other Mount Dirty…)

(And our cupboard…didn’t get rid of as much in here, but that is again because it was a recent declutter…just put stuff back where it belonged…)

Now to update today’s board…plan to make countdown candy with the boys for when my mom gets here πŸ™‚

Altered Comp Book

other than getting my posts up…two days in a row…woo hoo πŸ™‚Β

First my 365 photo…

the inspiration was a fresh start…well just yesterday out land lord installed our new WORKING dishwasher!!Β  haven’t even peeled the plastic off yet πŸ™‚Β  The things we stay at home moms get excited about!!

Next was cleaning up my computer desk for the 40 bags in 40 days challange…I had that day blank…meaning we didn’t have what she had, so I just found a spot that really needed some decluttering…

and it needed it…I could barely work on the desk…I also cleaned off the top of the cpu…there was stacks of foam nativities the boysΒ  made that we gave to the younger two’s mother’s-day-out class…I did also shred some stuff and throw out some stuff…so between all that I figure I got a bags worth…and a much happier working area!!

The cross stitch I will post when it is completed πŸ™‚Β  hoping to have it done in ten days…my oldest has challanged me on that one…

With a little help from my oldest I altered a composition book…this is one of my favorite paper crafts to do…

I saw the idea for the handles at eighteen25, I love the idea…the papers were ones given to me by a friend before she moved…They are from Stampin UP…I decided to write down blogs that are linked up as I looked at a blog (I like to start from the beginning and then go to the first one they linked)…so this book is getting pretty full…but I figure it is a better way to keep track πŸ™‚Β

Finally for the 52 week challange, I moved the stuff that was not a part of the function of the kitchen out…which was just hubby’s work hat…hung it up…not much work there…the kitchen really isn’t that bad…so right now it is easy stuff…

oh and I am also a member of a great yahoo group…A Plan of Attack, this week they are working on cleaning up holiday decorations…I don’t take mine down until the 7th after Epiphany, so I got next weeks, which is the bathroom…so will be working on that this week and Christmas next…first I need to clean hidden areas of the bathroom…

Now to go update my board and get to work…oh school work first for Jacob πŸ˜‰Β  almost done with time line review and then onto Latin…
